Barn i Tyskland, hjemsendelse, barn til Sverige etc.

Subject:           33 illegimate Norwegian children, Norwegian mothers, German father formerly cared for by Zentralstelle Des Lebensborn in nursery Hohehorst, adr. Löhnhorst bei Bremen. 

To:            Royal Norwegian Ministry of Social Welfare, ”R” Office, Oslo. 

1.      Ref. is made to letter from this det. dated 28 June 1945 and enclosures as mentioned therein. As mentioned verbally the original plan of having a number of these children adopted by german nationals has been altered as The Swedish Red Cross – through the intermediary of Mjor Hans Arnoldson – undertook to have these children included in their repatriation scheme for ex consentration camp inmates, and later to arrange for the adoption of these children in Sweden. In accordance herewith a transport column was dispatched to Löhnhorst on the 23 July to fetch the chldren, and a total of 30 –thirty- Norwegian children of above mentioned category were shipped to Sweden with S/S ”Castelholm” on the 5 July.

2.      There are 3 alterations in the list of children enclosed letter of 28 June. Two children were already adopted by German nationals and in accord ance with the original plan by the time of collection. 3.      It is mainly thanks to the efforts of major Arnoldsson that a satisfactory solution could be found in this particular case. In case information as to the future of these children is required, please contact the Swedish Red Cross.
