(Norwegian war children’s association).

First we’ll want to honour Mr. Per Arne Löhr Meek for the initiative he’s taken in order to conduct the foundation of the Norwegian War Children’s Association. It had to be 40 years before the Norwegian mass media “discovered” the war children with German fathers.

It was the NRK journalist Veslemøy Kjendsli that in a radio program at the end of 1985 meet the first war children and later made several  radio programs with and about them. They were affected by a life filled with betray and concealment, shame and guilt.

But also with an extraordinary courage and ability to survive, as she have described it. She feels like a midwife for the association, especially because one of the participants in one of her radio shows, Per Arne Löhr Meek, founded the association just one month later.

Later, he came forward on television as the first war child in Norway telling about the fact of being a war child. This lead to that many of the war children contacted Per Arne and became members of the association.
